Case Study - Family Law (individual)
Client:
Megan (35)
Issue:
Megan was in the process of establishing a care arrangement with her ex-partner for her daughter through the Family Law courts. Her ex-partner was unwilling to engage in mediation, and was making the process incredibly challenging and draining for Megan. Furthermore, Megan had not seen her daughter for the preceding three months, as her ex-partner was refusing her access.
How R&L Helped:
Megan received critical support from her R&L counsellor in a number of ways. Firstly, they provided her with empathy and validation for how she was feeling regarding her current situation, and her experience of the family law system. Secondly, the counsellor assisted Megan in ensuring that her self-care was prioritised, so as to give her the mental and emotional capacity to cope with the family law process. Finally, the counsellor provided Megan with the space and opportunity to process her challenging situation. Megan was grateful for the ongoing support she received from her R&L counsellor.
